RTU - Right to
Use
What is it?
A Right To Use resort
is a timeshare with an expiration date. Some resorts give you
the Right To Use, or lease, the space to you until a certain date.
This Right To Use will be clearly spelled out for you in
your deed. Typically you will have 20 to 30 years before it
comes due.
If you buy a resort
from Timeshare Gems for $2,000 and it has a RTU that comes due in 20
years, effectively you're only paying $100 per year, plus your
maintenance costs to use that week. That is quite a bargain even
still. Just make sure the RTU time is clearly spelled out,
figure that into your purchase price, and you can end up with a
significant bargain in the process.
We will always let
you know up front what the RTU is if there is one. Any ethical
seller will do the same thing. Each resort will determine what they will do with
the timeshares once the RTU date is reached. We understand that
most resorts will simply work out a continued agreement with the
current owners, but that is the decision of the resort.
